The key to success in Internet Marketing and how to make money online is knowledge, not just general knowledge, but depth of knowledge. What I mean is a depth of knowledge in all aspects of Internet Marketing. Below are the seven key points that I find it necessary to learn and keep on learning.

1) Identify the market that you want to go in to. Preferably you will have some knowledge of the subject. If you haven't, find out more about it and what people want. If you are not prepared to do that choose another subject that you are comfortable with and perhaps interested in. If you do not do any of these I would choose another career as Internet Marketing is not for you. You must find a niche subject in which to progress.

2) Go into Keywords in great depth and learn what you have to do with them.Without Keyword skills you will not progress at all. There are keyword packages available on the net, the best of which you have to pay for. However, to get a basic overview learn from Google and their Keyword Tool. Find out about long tail Keywords and how you need them to really make money.

3) Once you are well versed in the above you will need to know how to use Keywords to make money not only with domain name choice, but also with how to monetize your website via Google AdWords and AdSense. Keyword skills will also be necessary to go into Affiliate Marketing utilizing PPC (Pay per click). If you have a product of your own to sell Keyword skills are also a must.

4) All of the steps above are useless, however, if you can't drive traffic to your site. You must again learn in depth how to drive traffic to your site by various means. Find out about Blogs, Article Marketing, Forums, Social Bookmarking and even PPC.

5) Good Sales Copywriting is an essential skill which you need to master especially when creating
Blogs and Articles. If you want to keep the reader interested and informed and basically to get their attention in the first place.

6) Linking is also a crucial step to Internet Marketing. You need all aspects of your traffic generation system to be linked together and to your website. External links to other sites are also a big plus.

7) So things are now up and running, but you still have to keep on top of it. You must learn about SEO (Search Engine Optimization) Yes, again more keyword research is necessary to tinker with your overall system and keep those links coming if you don't want to go backwards.
