How to Have a Blog That Makes You Money

So you have decided that you would like to have a blog. But not just any old blog, you want to know how to have a blog that makes you some money. Of course you do. After all if you are going to be spending your time writing your opinions and thoughts, you want to be able to cash in on it.

Well the good news is that it is very easy to make money blogging. The hard thing is getting traffic to it. And you need the second if you want the first.

Fortunately search engines seem to like blogs because they usually contain unique content and are updated regularly. So as long as you are smart with your titles and keywords you should be able to get the traffic.

Think carefully about the types of keywords and phrases that you use in your blog. Avoid highly competitive words and instead try and find words or phrases with high search volume but low competition. That way your posts are likely to be ranked highly for those search terms.

Don't just stick with the typical money-making blogging topics such as 'weight loss' 'insurance' or 'make money online' either, you just never know what people are going to be interested in. One very popular blogger makes his living writing a review about the television program Lost. You wouldn't have thought writing your opinions about a television show could make you money did you?

There are many ways to make money from your blog including adding AdSense ads (Google's contextual advertising program), promoting affiliate products or even promoting your own products if you have them.

Obviously your offers need to be tightly tied into the subject matter of your blog to be relevant, but if you can get the traffic then it should be a piece of cake to make money from it.

Now that you know how to have a blog that makes you money, go get blogging!

Why not join the hundreds of people that are already making money from their blogs. Learn how to have a blog that makes you money.

An Introduction to Blogging - Part 2

If you have read our previous articles about the New Media Revolution of blogging, you may now understand just how widespread it is and you may also have a basic idea of the impact it can have on your personal business. But you're probably asking "How can I get started?"

I may be able to offer some general advice and tips to help get you started, but if you need a more comprehensive set of instructions and information you can get better acquainted with the process using other online resources, such as eBooks.

First, there are many blogging platforms you can use. If you already have a website for your business and you want to host you own blog there are various software programs for this purpose, such as b2evolution, Lifetype, or Serendipity. Otherwise, you can create a blog for free on one of several blog-hosting platforms, like LiveJournal or WordPress.

While blog-hosting websites will have various templates you may choose from, hosting your blog on your business website can be more complicated. If you decide to use a blogging application such as one of those listed above, many of them will provide a limited variety of templates for free use and easy installation. However, if you want your blog to stand out, and you can afford to be more unique, you can also choose to hire someone to design a custom theme for you and in some cases even a company logo for your website.

Regardless of the look and design of your blog, it's very important to keep it updated every day. As stated in the previous blog entry which inspired this more in-depth look at blogging, you can choose to write several blog posts at once and upload one whenever you need to rather than posting them all at once. This can help you take advantage of any burst of creativity that supplies several blog topic ideas and also gives you topics to fall back on any day you find yourself without new ideas. You don't necessarily have to spend time every day writing your blog.

You also need to make sure that your topics are relevant to the purpose of your website and your business, if your website is about personal finance chances are visitors to your site will not be interested in reading a blog entry about the Olympic games (unless of course you can find some way to link it to personal finance). For many subjects, you may be able to find a decent supply of blog topics by finding related news articles.

I hope you have found this article helpful, I intend to continue this series with a follow-up article describing various means to profit through your personal or business blog so please return to learn more! Feel free to let us know about your experiences with blogging, whether you are just starting out or already have a successful blog in operation.

Have you ever been a victim of a blogger with an axe to grind? If you watch the dynamics and sociopath behavior of such individuals you will find patterns that are quite alarming. Very recently, someone found an old article or two that I had written and then posted them on their blog condemning me for writing such words. Yet, there was something sinister about their fostering of these words to provoke a reaction from others. But why would someone do something like this?

Well, there are indeed all sorts of people out in the world, and they have personal causes that they hold dear and are willing to go out of their way to see to fruition and willing to smear or slander anyone they perceive to be in their paths. In this case, a gentleman borrowed a paragraph out of an article I wrote last year sometime and modified it ever so slightly and did not post the rest of the article, thus taking it out of context. Next, he proceeded to call me basically a hater of "homosexuals" which is completely non-sense.

Why would someone do this, why would someone go out of their way to rile up the gay community against a fellow blogger? Amazing, is all I can say. I hope this individual is quite proud of themselves for their persnickety, petty and pathetic attempts to smear the good name of another. Is this what is becoming of America? Is this the kind of thing we can expect from such folks on an Online Blogging Network? I can hear them now, giggling to themselves for their little game playing episodes. Quite frankly, I am not impressed, rather I'd like to puke.
