As Britain celebrates National Bike Week, cycling enthusiasts have been urged to check their home insurance policies to ensure they are covered against bike theft.
Figures from the British Crime Survey show that bike theft is rife in the UK. According to its data, one bike is stolen every 65 seconds in Britain with the average cost of a replacement at 337. So while riding a bike is good for its health and environmental benefits, it's vital that cyclists take suitable precautions.
You may not think of home insurance as the route to protect yourself against bike crime - but many policies do cover items taken out of the home and it is possible to add a bicycle to your cover with several insurers. For example, Halifax home insurance offers 500 cover for bikes as standard. If your policy places a limit on the value of your bike, you may need to list it as a specified item.
Check to see where your bike is covered. Some policies cover you against theft from the home, outbuildings or garden, but may not cover you in public places. If you want cover away from the property, you may need to specifically request this with your home insurer.
Even then your insurer will want to see that you're not negligent with the bicycle so take steps to avoid theft. Use bike racks where possible, preferably in well-lit areas. When not in use, keep the bike inside your home or in an outbuilding and ensure the door is locked. Consider using anti-pry devices and U-type locks as many bike thieves carry tools to easily cut through cables.
Take photographs in case a home insurance claim is necessary and if you're not covered by your existing deal compare home insurance polices online to find suitable cover.
Helping you get the Credit you deserve! Are you a college student? Do you pay rent? Or are you just concerned about your personal possessions? You may feel that you don't own enough to make renter insurance worthwhile, but you might be surprised at how quickly books, CDs, and kitchen appliances can add up. Renters insurance may be exactly what you're looking for and it is able to easily fit into any budget.
Why Would I Want to Buy Renters Insurance?
You are at a great financial risk if you rent your home and do not have renters insurance. It protects you in many ways:
Renters insurance will replace your personal possessions if they are stolen, vandalized, or damaged by natural disasters such as fire, windstorms and hail.
It will also pay for you to live elsewhere if the place you are currently renting is damaged and needs time to be repaired.
Renters insurance also covers you if someone were to be injured while visiting you. What if someone were to slip and sprain their ankle within your home? You may even receive compensation for legal defense costs in case of any legal action against you.
You will also be covered if you were to damage someone else's property. If you were to leave your bath tub running and it dribbles downstairs, damaging your neighbor's couch, you could be responsible for all the damages.
It may also cover other incidents...such as property being stolen from your car, or a suitcase being stolen while on vacation.
How to Find a Policy
Is $10 to $25 a month too much? Renters insurance is very inexpensive, and usually ranges from $100 to $300 a year for $30,000 worth of coverage. The rate will depend on a few things, as well as assumptions (smoke alarms, fire extinguishers).
The location of your residence
The construction of the building you're currently living in
The deductible you have, for lower rates you can raise the deductible. But for more protection, you can pay more for replacement cost coverage, in which reimbursement is based on today's replacement cost rather than original value.
Your decision of whether you wish to receive the actual cash value of your damaged or stolen belongings, or replacement coverage.
Where Would I Get Cheap Renters Insurance?
In order to get the cheapest rate possible, it is important to go to an insurance comparison website where you can compare quotes from different companies. On the best websites for this, you can also speak with insurance professionals live to get the answers you need for all your insurance questions.

Car CoversFor many writers, their favorite subject is travel and anything to do with travel. Without doubt, there is a joy associated with travel writing for several reasons. First, with this type of writing, all types of travel can be covered from camping to chartered yachts to cultural experiences in Peru to luxury vacations in Maui, Hawaii. Travel writing reaches out across the globe, making this one of the most exciting arenas.
With travel writing, there are two types of writers, those who have personal experience and those who have outstanding research skills and can write as if they were in a particular destination. The goal regardless is that the writing needs to take the reader to the place being written about, stirring smells, sights, and sounds all with the use of powerful words.
In the first instance, travel writing is done by people who travel often, both nationally and internationally. These people are able to draw from their own experiences, sharing things they have done and seen with readers who are interested in going to the same place. Often, the best writing is done by experienced travelers because they have personal, firsthand knowledge of the place.
The other example for travel writing is writers who have not traveled to a certain place but who have a keen ability to do in-depth research to find the types of details that will also engage the reader. For this, more work is required but the outcome can also be a high quality eBook or article that gives the reader all he or she needs to plan a trip to the same destination.
There are so many opportunities surrounding travel writing, which includes airfare information, tips for car rentals, cruise ships, money exchange, Visas and passports, historical sites, local cuisine, customs and cultures, natural wildlife, flora, and fauna, and the list keeps on going.

Australia VisaSpecial occasions require jewelry. When you're dressed to the nines, you want that sparkle and bling! Whether you're attending a wedding or anniversary party, or a company celebration you'll want to look your best with the best. Because we need to travel to so many different locations to celebrate, there are different types of travel jewelry cases to insure that you arrive with your precious jewels intact. You never want to pack your jewelry in your discount luggage. It should always be packed in your carryon or handbag. If you like to wear a lot of earrings, there are jewel rounds to keep the earrings safe and insure they do not tangle. These rounds have pockets all around the perimeter to hold the earrings, and one large compartment in the center for a watch or necklace or bracelet. The jewel rounds are made of different fabrics including ultrasuede and come in a huge variety of colors.
Jewel rolls have been around for a long time and have become more and more popular. They fit easily in the handy safes that are located in most of the better hotel rooms. These jewel rolls are available in fabric or leather. The leather models are very elegant and can be carried safely inside your handbag. The fabric jewel rolls are a little bulkier, but will fit inside your lightweight luggage carryon. Jewel rolls generally have a few inside zippered pockets and a soft padded bar for rings. Some models will have a silver cloth lined pocket to keep your silver jewelry sparkling and tarnish free. Other models will have a clear plastic inside so you can see at a glance that your jewelry is neatly put away. Necklace bars are another nice feature inside some models of jewel rolls. These keep your chains and necklaces from getting tangled. There are small jewel rolls available that almost look like a tiny cosmetic case. There are also large versions that have pockets on both sides with a hanger to hang-up in a closet. Some of the newer versions are available in gold and silver leather. These are quite fashionable and beautiful to travel along with you. These jewel rolls are often kept in safety deposit boxes at home because they are so organized and easy to pack away.
A new version of travel jewel case has emerged. These are either in leather or ultra-suede and resemble small handbags. They are hard sided and can protect jewelry from rough handling. They are one of the most popular of the newer travel accessories. Some models have a small handle on top. Other models have a tiny jewel case that can be used together or separately for a shorter trip. These come in bright colors and are very fashionable. They make nice wedding attendant gifts and are especially popular when monogrammed or engraved with a name or initials. These travel jewel cases come in a huge array of sizes.
Men also travel with jewelry. Travel watchcases in leather will accommodate one or two watches. There are small leather jewel cases that can be used to take extra cufflinks and a tie clasp or two. Jewel rolls in black or brown leather will also accommodate a larger selection of jewelry for men going on longer trips. These leather cases make wonderful corporate gifts and can be embossed, silk-screened or monogrammed with a company name or logo. Of course, they can also be monogrammed with an individual's name or initials. With all of these handy travel jewel cases available, there's no reason not to sparkle when you travel.
